Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
