Tehran is prepared to reinitiate atomic discussions with the United States on condition that it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated solely negotiations was effective, and revealed fresh requests had originated from mediators to resume talks with the American leadership. He asserted Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran was not yet able to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Navigating a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is walking a complex path since Iran wishes not to be seen to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen more powerful militarily and emotionally from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was speaking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will never give up" – the primary cause of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Previous Negotiations Suddenly Concluded

The previous five rounds of negotiations between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and hostile termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the American leader claiming the sites had been obliterated. Following this, Western states used their right to restore UN-wide sanctions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had attained a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been agreed in the discussions that American atomic experts could function on Iranian soil, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion.
